The VOCES: Southwest Detroit History team and the School of Social Work's ENGAGE team held several collaborative oral history workshops focused on the power of storytelling. The sessions also covered topics including, archiving, building trust and conducting interviews. Workshops highlighted Detroit area Latino/a history and contributions dating back over 100 years. This was especially important to share with southwest Detroit Latino residents in sessions held with the Congress of Communities' Youth Leadership and with a multigenerational gathering at Mexicantown Community Development Corporation. During School sessions, our students, staff and faculty also explored how storytelling can be an effective intervention strategy within individual,  families and community settings.
