  2. Advanced Field Peer Consultation Group

    January 12, 2015 - 12:00pm to 2:00pm

    The Peer Consultation Group offers a seminar-like experience where students can come to consult each other with field-related issues/support. The groups are open and drop-in. You can come to as many or as little as you like. 

  3. Field Placement Verification Form Due

    January 21, 2015 (all day)

    Field Placement Verification Form due for review. 

    Field Placement Verification Form is considered complete when the student has submitted it and their Field Instructor has approved it.

    Students will not be able to start their Educational Agreement until their Field Placement Verification form is complete and validated by the Office of Field Instruction.

  5. Online Educational Agreement Help Session

    January 22, 2015 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

    This session is for students currently in field who would like assistance accessing and writing their Online Educational Agreement. Laptops will be available. Light refreshments will be provided.

  6. OFI Movie Screening

    January 22, 2015 - 5:00pm to 8:00pm

    Come join OFI as they screen the documentary "Inequality for All." The IMDB description is as follows:

    "A documentary that follows former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich as he looks to raise awareness of the country's widening economic gap."

    Snacks will be served!

  7. Field Instructor Training Workshop

    A bi-annual workshop designed to train and update field instructors on field related curriculum.

    Program Agenda: Registration & Breakfast 8:00-8:15  Sign-In/Packets Morning Session 8:15-10:00 Presentation: “What Makes a Safe Beginner?”
    The course is geared to engage field instructors in discussions, role plays, & share information regarding student field training. University/school requirements & expectations are discussed along with a session on "what makes a safe beginner" related to assessing student abilities about when & where students can begin to function more independently & with more complex cases/issues. 10:15-12:00 Small Group Sessions: “Building the Bridge Between Field and the SSW”
    Facilitated by Field Faculty in assigned break-out rooms.
      Lunch 12:00-12:45   Afternoon Session 12:45-1:45 Presentation:“Understanding and Applying the ADA in Field Instruction” 
    Participants will be able to access UM resources for students with disabilities and gain increased awareness of ADA guidelines to understand provisions of reasonable accommodations to ensure students with disabilities have the same opportunities as other students. 1:45-3:15 Presentation: "Affecting Change & Improving Outcomes: Utilizing Technology to Enhance Competency-based Learning in Field Instruction"
    The focus of this course is to prepare and equip the participants in utilizing technology to assist them in the development of educationally sound field-based assignments that help prepare our field students in becoming proficient with the required social work competencies.  Participants will learn how to access and use the online Educational Agreement which acts as the contract for field placement.
