Through the Child and Adolescent Data Lab, I led the development of the Michigan Juvenile Justice Bed Management Tool, a statewide resource that provides real-time visibility into available detention and residential beds in the juvenile justice system. Previously, there was no centralized way to track bed availability or coordinate placements across the state. The tool closes that gap by giving providers real-time search capabilities to find available treatment beds and helping case managers identify suitable placements closest to a youth's home. It has successfully launched with nearly 100 providers participating across Michigan, leading to quicker and better informed placement decisions for youth in the juvenile justice system.
