The work I do to live our vision is also summed up by this year’s theme for Social Work Month: Uplift. Defend. Transform.
By ensuring accessible materials and teaching how federal policy shapes local lives, I Uplift students—affirming their belonging and proving that policy is practice.
My commitment extends into the systems that govern us. Whether centering family voices on state-wide boards or consulting with MDHHS to support ACEs Master Trainers, I Defend the vulnerable by ensuring practitioners are equipped with trauma-informed, evidence-based expertise. By advocating for the legitimacy of our professional degree and embedding resilience at the institutional level, I work to Transform the landscape of care. From the individual learner to systemic change, my actions reflect one goal: a more just and equitable future.
