Section 4.04.01: Field Instructor Benefits

The Office of Field Education supports the efforts of field instructors in a variety of ways. A bi-annual workshop is held, whereby field instructors are invited to attend a new field instructor orientation (to policies, procedures, roles, responsibilities, expectations, etc.). There is no fee for the new field instructor orientation and continuing education hours are provided free of charge.

Continuing Education Programs
The School of Social Work (SSW) offers numerous continuing professional education opportunities for field instructors and the social work community at large. A fee waiver is available to any field instructor who currently has one of our students placed with them, and applies for up to one calendar year following their last active student placement. The Office of Continuing Education and the Office of Field Education reserve the right to deny the field
instructor fee waiver to field instructors who consistently no-show for courses without
cancelling their registration through the Office of Continuing Education. Due to the limited number of spaces available in courses, registration should be cancelled at least 5 business days before the program start date as a professional courtesy and so that there is time to contact people on the waitlist. Field instructors may be actively registered for up to two mini-courses at a time and may take up to three mini-courses in a calendar year.
