The Student Union Teacher of the Year is Assistant Professor Jamie Mitchell. Each year the student union selects a teacher who has been particularly powerful in their learning and who is a model for an educator at SSW.
This interactive event will focus on effective social work organizing skills. The session will showcase specific social work organizing strategies and tactics such as base building, generating and using power, taking purposeful action, designing speeches, organizing speak outs, teach-ins and protests.
Activists will describe several key organizing strategies followed by small group teach-ins where these skills can be practiced. Our focus is on ways to effectively organize in the fight for social justice today.
