Learning Communities

The Learning Communities above have been established and additional ones are planned.

Dean Laura Lein invited faculty members to create communities focused on developing new teaching and research addressing specific areas of social work.  Learning Communities work towards new solutions to the problems of vulnerable and marginalized communities, aging in our society, the need for integrated health services, new approaches to child well-being, the globalization of social work, and poverty and inequality.  Our goal is to increase the number of Learning Communities to inspire, innovate and invigorate our School’s collaborations, curriculum and research.

 Specifically Learning Communities –

  • Provide strategic leadership for cross-institutional and cross-professional research and teaching
  • Link innovative research with practice settings
  • Develop new and relevant field instruction and internship sites for students
  • Develop innovations in our course offerings
