Management Leadership Learning Community

Bringing leaders together at the University of Michigan School of Social Work.

The Management Leadership Learning Community (MLLC) is designed for those interested in leadership, management and evaluation within the social service sector.

Purpose of the MLLC

The Management Leadership Learning Community seeks to build knowledge, expand cohort experience, and maximize the impact that U-M social work students, practitioners, and faculty generate in communities across the globe.

  • Cohort experience. Providing students with a shared and connected cohort experience to support learning and continued professional development.
  • Networking. Opportunities to learn about career opportunities, meet leaders of community benefit (social impact) organizations, and grow your network.
  • Education. Providing educational opportunities, both inside and outside of the classroom that will prepare us as future leaders
  • Knowledge development. Collaborating to contribute to the evidence base of the field.
  • Branding and identity. Enhancing the U-M School of Social Work's reputation as the best community benefit organization manager training program in the country.

Workshops & Events

Workshops and "lunch 'n learn" presentations provide students an opportunity to bring classroom dialogue outside of the classroom, and engage with faculty, staff, students and community members and nonprofit leaders. Some topics focus on research, while others focus on management, leadership, and evaluation skills needed to be successful in the workforce today. All workshops pay particular attention to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Management Leadership Learning Community also hosts monthly social events where students can network with faculty and fellow leadership students. Sign up for our mailing list to get the updates on these.
