Human Services Management Certificate

The Management of Human Services Certificate is nationally recognized and offered in partnership with the Network for Social Work Management. The certificate is awarded based on successful completion of the MSW Program with either a major or minor in Management of Human Services.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Certificate students may be 16 month, 20 month, Advanced Standing, or extended degree
  • Certificate students must choose Management of Human Services as a concentration, or have a Management of Human Services minor
  • Certificate students may choose any practice area: Aging in Families and Society, Children and Youth in Family and Society, Community and Social Systems, Health, or Mental Health
  • Course Work (6-credits) of advanced courses in Management
  • Students must become a member of the Network for Social Work Management (FREE)

Advising

In order to earn the certificate, students must meet with an Advisor in the Leadership in Community Benefit Organizations Program prior to graduation. A student is welcome to meet about courses, field placements, and internal and external opportunities for leadership and management skill development.

How to Apply

Students with either a Management Concentration or Minor will be eligible to receive the certificate upon completion of an exit audit session with the Leadership in Community Benefit Organizations Program. You will receive an email one month prior to graduation to sign up for an audit session. If you have questions about your eligibility, feel free to contact us at ssw.leadership@umich.edu.
