Miriam Chesterman

Jewish Communal Leadership Program Class of 2022

Originally from Huntington Woods, Michigan, Miriam Chesterman comes to JCLP from a year of direct service work in New York City through Avodah: The Jewish Service Corps. In the past year, Miriam has been working at Neightbors Together, a small nonprofit organization in Brooklyn that serves as both a soup kitchen and a social services organization, at which Miriam's role was to help low-income New Yorkers navigate the housing market, as well as other general social services. Miriam graduated from the University of Michigan in May 2019 with a degree in International Studies and a minor in Community Action and Social Change. During her undergrad years, she spent most of her time with her community service organization and during the summers worked at Camp Tel Yehudah. Miriam is especially excited to return to the University of Michigan to study social work, and will be a part of the Community Change track.
