The Ethnic-racial and Sociopolitical Socialization of Mixed-Status Immigrant Families: The Role of Parental Involvement in Immigrant Rights Organization

This project has three specific aims: 1) to explore the ethnic-racial and sociopolitical socialization messages that Latinx immigrant parents transmit to their adolescents and what prompts them to share these different messages; 2) to explore youth’s understanding of the ethnic-racial and sociopolitical socialization messages they are receiving from their parents and the impact that such messages have on their mental health and civic engagement; 3) to examine the role parental involvement in an immigrant rights organization plays in the association between socialization practices and youth outcomes.
