Comparative Effectiveness of Adding Family Supporter Training and Engagement to a CHW-Led Intervention to Improve Behavioral Management of Multiple Risk Factors for Diabetes Complications

Throughout the study, University of Michigan (UM) Co-Investigators Dr. Michele Heisler, Dr. Gretchen Piatt, and Dr. Edith Kieffer will collaborate with rest of study team in the development and refinement of the recruitment plan and materials, intervention curriculum and materials, training plan and fidelity monitoring plan for the CHASS-based Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Research Associates (RAs); and in developing study assessment instruments, and planning and conducting data analyses. UM Co-Investigators will participate in monthly study team meetings conducted by phone with screen-sharing capabilities, or in-person either in Ann Arbor, MI or Detroit, MI. Dr. Heisler will serve the role of UM Site-PI in UM portions of study conduct including meeting UM IRB requirements. Drs. Heisler will assist the PI in training CHWs in delivery of the interventions and reviewing selected CHW-led sessions for fidelity to intervention protocols. Finally, UM Co-Investigators will collaborate with the rest of study team in the interpretation of study assessment data, contribute to the production of study reports, and contribute to and co-author any conference presentations and scientific manuscripts resulting from the study.
