An evaluation of the Brightmoor Quality Initiative

For the past decade, the Fisher Foundation has helped build a system of support for the early childhood education and care ecosystem in the Brightmoor neighborhood of Detroit. Early care providers have received professional development opportunities, facilities upgrades, and access to peer learning networks. Brightmoor families have received access to care scholarships and wellness resources. The community as a whole has seen an expansion in the capacity and quality of child care offerings. The Fisher Foundation is seeking to engage Poverty Solutions in an evaluation of the impact of their efforts over the past decade. Pieces of this work have already received rigorous evaluation by High Scope, the early childhood education research and professional development organization. The goal of this latest evaluation would be to put these pieces together, place them within the context of early childhood education research and policy, and craft a narrative based on available evidence about what worked, what else is needed, and how these learnings can advance early childhood education efforts across Detroit.
