Description

The Henry Ford Sleep Disorders and Research Center is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and detail-oriented Research Coordinator to work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Philip Cheng to oversee a portfolio of research projects examining sleep, circadian rhythms, and mental health.

Responsibilities / Position Summary: The primary function of this position is to provide support and supervision to a research team focused on sleep and mental health. The position involves training and supervision of research and peer staff, study recruitment, enrollment and follow-up assessments, and submission and ongoing tracking of all regulatory aspects of the project. In addition, the position involves coordination and supervision of the intervention and the peer mentoring, conduct baseline and follow-up interviews, coordinate research meetings, and work with investigators to triage crisis management (e.g., risk of harm to self), as needed.

Candidate Background: Master’s degree in Psychology, Public Health, or Social Work with prior experience in mental health-related research is preferred. Bachelor level candidate with significant experience will also be considered. Candidate will possess knowledge, skill and experience in coordinating research projects including experience producing and following protocols, enrolling and interviewing patients, obtaining informed consent, and collecting data (through patient interviews, survey administration, and/or electronic medical records or databases). He/she will have the ability to manage day-to-day activities of assigned research projects for ensuring adherence to study protocols. Candidate will have experience in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks or projects within a time frame to meet deadlines. He/she will have the ability to work independently and seek guidance when appropriate, adjust to varying amounts of workload, use time efficiently, take initiative to problem-solve. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database management, audiovisual presentation, and reference management software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Applicant must be detail-oriented, possess the ability to work productively with others in a cooperative team environment, and have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills, critical thinking and attentiveness to detail are required.
