Sallie Foley, LMSW, is an AASECT certified sex therapist, sex educator, and sex therapy supervisor. She is the former director of the Center for Sexual Health at University of Michigan Health Systems and has a private practice in psychotherapy and consultation in Ann Arbor. She is the director of the Sexual Health Certificate Program (SHCP), which provides comprehensive education and training to professionals interested in the field of sexual health. Her clinical work and teaching address issues of psychological development, treatment of sexual dysfunction, and therapies for bereavement and traumatic loss. Her research has focused on sexual health and chronic illness.
Her publications include two books--Sex Matters for Women: A Complete Guide to Taking Care of your Sexual Self (Guilford Press, 2012)--winner of the 2013 SSTAR Best Consumer Sexual Health Book award--and Sex and Love for Grownups: A No-Nonsense Guide to a Life of Passion (Sterling Press, 2005; in paperback as Modern Love, 2006). She has written numerous articles and chapters and writes and speaks frequently on the subject of human sexuality. She is a former columnist for AARP: The Magazine.
