  10. Liliana Goldín:  Guest Anthropology Talk Liliana Goldín: Guest Anthropology Talk

    October 16, 2019 - 4:00pm

    Liliana Goldín, professor at the NYU Silver School of Social Work and the McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research, is an anthropologist who has worked with Mayan native populations in Guatemala since the 1980s. She has studied modern Mayan women and their engagement to work during the transition of Guatemala from an agrarian society to an industrial society, and the simultaneous onset of Mayans' risk for developing Type 2 diabetes.  Professor Goldin is currently researching culturally compatible approaches to reducing diabetes risk among Mayans in Guatemala.  During her visit to the School, she will give a talk entitled "A sustainable intervention to improve adherence to Type 2 Diabetes protocols among indigenous peoples of Guatemala." A reception will follow.
