    For all students currently enrolled in field, the Field Educational Agreement is due for review for the Fall 2019 term.

    Please join the School of Social Work for this special event due to demand from students and employers.

    Come explore the variety of field and employment options in the Southeast Michigan area. Opportunities at area organizations in all levels of social work from clinical to macro will be represented.

  4. Optional Field Goal Statement and Resume Review Deadline

    October 3, 2019 (all day)

    Students submitting a field application for a Winter 2020 field start can have their Goal Statement and resumes reviewed by the Office of Career Services Writing Center if they choose.

  6. Working with Couples in Therapy

    October 3, 2019 - 5:00pm to 8:00pm

    This mini-course is designed to familiarize students with the current theories of couple therapy. Selected empirically supported models utilized in couple therapy will be examined The course also looks at some of the key issues and challenges faced by therapists who provide couple therapy. This mini-course will be skill based and focus on helping students to learn effective approaches to working with couples in therapy.

  8. Alumni Webinar Series: Collaborating Across Boundaries

    October 4, 2019 - 3:00pm to 5:00pm

    This webinar, taught by SSW alumnus Russ Linden, describes the practice of collaboration through the lens of two case examples in which collaborative leaders overcame enormous barriers in pursuit of their shared goals.

    We discuss the nature of collaborative leadership, six key factors that promote collaboration, and how to address many collaboration hurdles.

  9. CASC Undergraduate Minor Student Organization Grant Deadline

    October 4, 2019 - 5:00pm

    The CASC Minor Student organization grant provides funding for declared students engaged in social justice and social action programs, initiatives, and projects. If you are a member of a student organization seeking funding for materials, supplies, space, food, or other related expenses, apply online using the CASC Minor Funding Form.

    The deadline for this grant cycle to apply is Friday, October 4th.

  10. Motivational Interviewing for Social Workers

    October 5, 2019 (all day)

    Utilizing numerous materials including the Professional Training Videotape Series developed by William R. Miller and Stephen Rollnick, this five-week series of 3-hour instruction and skill-building sessions will provide a basic introduction to Motivational Interviewing. Using the video material and supplemental handouts, along with lecture, role-playing and group discussion, this course will lay a foundation for participants to begin to develop their clinical skills in helping people accomplish change in areas of difficult behavior.
