  1. Facing Race: A National Conference in Detroit, MI 2018

    November 8, 2018 - 12:00pm to November 10, 2018 7:00pm

    Facing Race: A National Conference is presented by Race Forward: The Center for Racial Justice Innovation and will be held at the Cobo Centerin Detroit, Michigan on November 8-10, 2018. 

    A unique collaborative space for racial justice movement making, Facing Race is the largest multiracial, inter-generational gathering of organizers, educators, creatives and other leaders. Facing Race will offer unprecedented access to information and resources on racial equity from across the nation. 

  2. Council on Social Work Education Annual Program Meeting

    November 8, 2018 - 8:00pm to November 9, 2018 12:00pm

    Admissions representatives will be available in the conference exhibit hall to share information on U-M's MSW and PhD programs.

  3. CSWE Annual Program Meeting - Joint Reception

    November 9, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

    Please join us for a reception to meet and reconnect with representatives, alumni, faculty, and students. This will be a joint reception with the Michigan graduate programs in social work.

  4. Fall Service Day

    November 10, 2018 - 9:00am to 1:00pm

    Please join us for a day of service and the chance to reconnect and meet with School of Social Work alumni. This year we will partner with Girls on the Run, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

  5. Day of Caring

    November 12, 2018 - 10:45am

    Join others for a 1-2 hour shift from 9am - 3pm to help with special projects around the shelter. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome. If you can bring extra cleaning supplies it will be greatly appreciated. Please follow this link and scroll to 11/17 to inform the shelter that you will be coming.

  6. Teaching Drop-in Session

    November 12, 2018 - 5:00pm to 6:00pm

    This fall, the SSW is hosting a regular series of support activities around teaching. These have been designed as a result of requests from faculty. 

    Drop-in instructor sessions. These sessions may have loose topics but will be largely open for instructors to ask questions and give/gain support from peers around teaching. Blue Jeans call-in options will be available.

    These sessions are available to all course instructors. A schedule of dates and events is below.

  7. Using Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to Ensure Students' Rights to Education

    November 13, 2018 - 9:00am to 12:15pm

    This course will provide an overview of students' rights to evaluation under the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Participants will learn about basics mandates of special education law including an overview of the special education evaluation process and how to advocate effectively for students suspected of having a disability.

  8. MSW Prospective Student Session

    November 13, 2018 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

    This session will provide the opportunity to learn more about the University of Michigan School of Social Work MSW program. Topics covered will include: MSW Curriculum, Dual Degree Programs, Application Process, Financial Aid, and more.

  9. Stand Up Stand Out Challenge Stand Up Stand Out Challenge

    November 14, 2018 - 10:30am to 11:30am

    This 60 minute challenge begins with registration and kick off at 10:30 a.m. at Liberty Plaza in downtown Ann Arbor and ends at noon.  Volunteer teams on the streets of Ann Arbor will walk up to as many individuals as they can during this one hour period and share three quick facts about the Shelter as well as a card brigade. They will ask their new acquaintance to take a photo with them for the shelter's Social Media Blitz before moving on to share with more people in this fun FRIEND-raiser. We recommend dressing in colorful outfits to grab attention (think capes, tutus, get creative!).

  10. CASC Engineering Lunch: STEM & Social Justice CASC Engineering Lunch: STEM & Social Justice

    November 14, 2018 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

    Join the Community Action and Social Change (CASC) Minor to learn about the importance of social justice in STEM.  This event provides you with an opportunity to network with current and prospective CASC students in the School of Engineering and is hosted by CASC-Engineers, Sabrina Kim and Rickey Shackelford.
