    November 15, 2019 - 2:30pm to 5:45pm

*DHHS participants, please note the change in scheduled time from the one listed in the catalog.*

This workshop will help participants gain a deeper understanding of suicide prevention and interventions in clinical practice. With the goal to become more comfortable and confident identifying and helping address suicidal ideation, plan(s) and intent in communities, this training will offer opportunities to engage in role-plays and review case examples.

Ethical and legal responsibilities as social workers exist when working with consumers. It is essential to understand the complexity of responses in clinical practice when suicide is present and needs to be addressed. This workshop will allow participants the opportunity to explore their beliefs regarding suicide at different stages of the lifespan and how one's beliefs do and do not influence our practice.

Registration for this course is closed. Visit the CE Course Catalog for more offerings.

    November 15, 2019 - 6:30pm to 10:00pm

"This documentary focuses on drag queens living in New York City and their "house" culture, which provides a sense of community and support for the flamboyant and often socially shunned performers. Groups from each house compete in elaborate balls that take cues from the world of fashion. Also touching on issues of racism and poverty, the film features interviews with a number of renowned drag queens, including Willi Ninja, Pepper LaBeija and Dorian Corey."

Come join Queer Advocacy Coalition, Association of Black Social Work Students, Latinx Coalition, Black Radical Healing Pathways, and Common Roots in viewing this provocative film.

    Refreshments will be served.
