Promoting Post-Traumatic Growth in Psychotherapy (Webinar)
February 22, 2018 - 12:00pm to 2:00pm
As psychotherapists, we are well aware of the long-term sequelae of trauma exposure. It is possible to feel helpless when working with trauma survivors, even after we've used all of the tools and skills available to us.
One emerging area in the field is that of posttraumatic growth. Research supports that posttraumatic growth is positively correlated with stress experienced during the traumatic event, meaning that the events that challenge us the most really can and do lead to positive outcomes. Drawing from our current literature, this workshop will describe specific ways psychotherapists can help promote growth in their clients. Topics covered include compassion, spirituality, social connection, and meaning-making.Registration for this course is closed. Visit the CE Course Catalog for more offerings.
