  1. Recognizing, Preventing, and Reporting Elder/Adult Abuse

    December 8, 2017 - 8:30am to 12:30pm

    Adult abuse is vastly underreported and misunderstood. This course will examine the current systems and educational efforts in place. Specifics will be discussed about the role of state agencies, particularly Adult Protective Services. Case examples highlighting actual responses to adult abuse by, both state agencies and other non-profit entities, will be discussed. Laws, regulations and policies will be discussed including those related to mandatory reporting. Resources, including information about current efforts underway to combat this horrific crime will be made available.

    Stop by our Facebook page for a live video that explores the *NEW* HRSA Integrated Behavioral Health and Primary Care Trainee Program and the Detroit Clinical Scholars program which offer generous financial aid and the opportunity for students to complete their field placement with Wayne County Community Mental Health Authority.

    Daicia Price, Field Educator, and Paola Arroyo, Current Detroit Clinical Scholar, will share specific examples of field opportunities for these programs. Cerise Carrington, Financial Aid, Admissions and Student Services Officer will provide information regarding the application process for these programs. There will also be an admissions representative available for real time comments and questions.
