Alternative Therapy & Wellness Techniques

to

Alternative forms of health and wellness are rising in popularity, and some even conflict with our traditional “Western” approaches to medicine. All approaches of therapy and mindfulness can benefit clients, and as social workers, we should be informed of the different therapies and therapeutic tools that exist. Join us to learn about new technological tools that provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and to hear from practitioners who specialize in “alternative wellness and therapy” including nutrition-based medicine, Tapping, Animal Therapy, Wilderness therapy, Somatic Intervention therapies, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), among others. Panelists include Assistant Dean and SSW Professor Dr. Joe Himle; SSW student Anika Sproull;  LEO lecturer and practitioner Heidi Sproull; LEO lecturer and practitioner Laura Sanders; among others.
