Alumni Networking Lunch: N. Vanessa Jackson, LMSW

Come to have a free lunch, learn about clinical work in nonprofits as well as in a medical setting. Vanessa has worked as a clinical therapist for well over 10 years, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Tuskegee University and her master’s degree from the University of Michigan, School of Social Work. Much of her clinical practice has been with survivors of childhood sexual abuse as well as individuals overcoming traumatic experiences. She has a significant amount of clinical experience working with individuals battling depression, anxiety and adjustment disorders. She’s highly regarded for her efforts in addressing specialty clinical areas to include crisis intervention, trauma focused sensory intervention, juvenile risk assessment and family skill building.

Licensure for Social Work Professionals

Michelle Woods, Director of Career Services, will discuss licensure in MI and how to research rules and regulations for other states. The ASWB exams utilized for licensure will also be discussed.

Alumni Networking Lunch: Jessica Ayoub, ACLU of Michigan’s Public Engagement Strategist

Come grab lunch and learn about another career option in macro social work.
Jessica Ayoub is the ACLU of Michigan’s Public Engagement Strategist. Jessica earned her MSW from the University of Michigan in December 2015. Her ability to marshal volunteer forces played a crucial role in the passage of Proposal 3, an ACLU-backed ballot measure that makes it significantly easier for Michiganders to vote. Prior to joining the ACLU-MI, she did a stint in AmeriCorps, working with Detroit school students. After that, she worked with Forgotten Harvest, helping provide quality food to low-income residents throughout metro Detroit. Through it all, one consistent thread has been a bedrock belief in helping community members develop the ability to take the lead on issues facing them.

Career Center and OFI Incoming Students Field Webinar
April 17, 2019 - 5:00pm to 6:30pm
This session will walk admitted students through the process of applying for a field placement. All admitted students should plan to attend this session live or view the recording. Presenters will also discuss how to effectively utilize the Career Center in preparing field application materials. The last 30 minutes of the session will discuss specific information for students planning to apply for a school placement.
This is a web-based session and you may attend from any computer with internet connection.
