Professor Mary Corcoran holds appointments at the Schools of Social Work and the Ford School of Public Policy; the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts; and the Institute for Social Research. Her teaching interests include public policy analysis, poverty and welfare policy, women and policy, and women and employment policy. Professor Corcoran has conducted research on poverty, sex discrimination, social stratification, and unemployment. Currently funded grants include "Underclass Neighborhoods, Welfare Dependency and Poverty" (funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Rockefeller, and Ford); "An Underclass Training and Research Grant" (funded by the University of Michigan Presidential Initiatives Fund); and "Post-Doctoral Training Program on the Underclass" (funded by Rockefeller and Ford).
