Job Summary

THIS IS A PART-TIME (50% FTE) ONE YEAR TERM-LIMITED APPOINTMENT WITH POSSIBILITY FOR RENEWAL

University of Michigan School of Social Work is accepting applications for a Research Project Coordinator (Part Time). The projects associated with this position are led by Dr. Katrina R. Ellis and focus on improving cancer and chronic disease outcomes for families through psychosocial and lifestyle interventions. We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative individual to assist with managing projects and designing health education and tailored messaging materials for research studies that primarily focus on African American families. Improving the health of families and advancing racial health equity through thoughtful, collaborative, strengths-based orientations, and evidence-based approaches are core components of this work.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

Scheduling and participating in data collection with participants (i.e., surveys, focus groups, interviews)
Managing project recruitment and data
Writing for professional and lay audiences (e.g., newsletters, journal articles, reports)
Monitoring project timelines, reporting deadlines, and progress towards project goals
Assisting with Institutional Review Board (IRB) reporting, amendments, and applications
Attending and facilitating project meetings
Supervising and supporting research assistants
Developing health education materials

Required Qualifications*

Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Public Health (MPH) or related degree is required. Candidate qualifications also include experience with: Microsoft Office; project management; participant recruitment for research studies; data collection; and design of health education materials. Experience with data analysis (qualitative and/or quantitative) and designing tailored health messaging, or a commitment to learning these skills, is desired. Please note that while this position is primarily remote, some local travel and in-person gatherings (e.g., project recruitment, data collection and meetings) are required.

Additional Information

About Dr. Katrina R. Ellis: Dr. Ellis is an assistant professor at the School of Social Work. An overarching goal of her research is to support the health of families facing multiple, coexisting illnesses, with a specific focus on African Americans. She works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams on a variety of health related studies that seek to improve health outcomes for vulnerable and marginalized populations. She is also a faculty affiliate with the Treatment, Innovation and Dissemination Research Group (TIDR).

About TIDR: TIDR is a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional team of faculty members, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and community partners focused on improving psychosocial treatment for mental disorders and increasing access to evidence-based mental health treatments for traditionally underserved populations. Our lab utilizes community-based participatory approaches and technological innovations to achieve these aims. Our funded program builds on the interdisciplinary strength of the resource-rich, research-focused environment at the University of Michigan.
