SSW aspires to create and maintain an educational and working environment that is respectful of differences and free from harassing behavior. The Dean’s TBLG Matters Initiative promotes education, empowerment, and engagement for transgender, bisexual, lesbian, gay, questioning, intersex and ally constituents throughout the School of Social Work.
Dean Laura Lein invited faculty members to create communities focused on developing new teaching and research addressing specific areas of social work. Learning Communities work towards new solutions to the problems of vulnerable and marginalized communities, aging in our society, the need for integrated health services, new approaches to child well-being, the globalization of social work, and poverty and inequality. Our goal is to increase the number of Learning Communities to inspire, innovate and invigorate our School’s collaborations, curriculum and research.
