Organizational Accountability Community Action Team
The primary goal of the Organizational Accountability Community Action Team (CAT) is to strengthen organizational capacity of domestic violence programs to meet the needs of Asian communities. The Organizational Accountability CAT consists of Asian community members and representatives of state and local domestic violence and related organizations, including:
- SafeHouse Center (Washtenaw County)
- Serenity Services (Wayne County)
- Turning Point, Inc. (Macomb County)
- HAVEN (Help Against Violent Encounters Now; Oakland County)
- First Step (Wayne County)
- University of Michigan Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC; Washtenaw County)
- Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (MCADSV)
- Michigan Indian Family Services (MAIFS)
Together, we will develop and implement plans and activities to improve institutional cultural competency of domestic violence organizations and to strengthen alliances between domestic violence programs and local Asian communities.
Currently, we are working to pilot a project called, Michigan Inter-Agency Support for Asian/All Women (MISAW). This is a collaborative project with New Visions, Building the Safety Net project of the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, Serenity Services, and HAVEN. The aim of this project is to create a system of care that can provide socio-culturally and linguistically appropriate assistance to Asian survivors and families.
