The children of battered women often suffer from a variety of anxiety and behavioral disorders and are at risk for being physically abused. These children are over-repressented in child welfare, substance abuse, and mental health agencies and these agencies need to improve their coordination for the proection of the children's emotional and physical wellbeing. Unless the mothers can be protected, the children are at continued risk.
The module on domestic violence covers the dynamics of the problem, methods of detection, safety planning, and models for a local community response system. The workshop was conducted on June 25, 28, and 29, 1999 in Washtenaw County Michigan. The audio lecture is presented by Daniel G. Saunders, MSSW, PhD. The module also includes slides and reference materials.
