Study Abroad
Study abroad opportunities are completed by few students in the School of Social Work. The MSW curriculum is structured so that students simultaneously complete class and field placement requirements. MSW classes are only offered at the Ann Arbor campus and the majority of field placement sites are in the state of Michigan. More students in the School of Social Work gain international experience by completing international field placements that have been approved by the School of Social Work or by pursuing a special studies credit by working with a SSW faculty member.
When investigating study abroad opportunities, we recommend that you take the following steps:
- Discuss the issue with your faculty advisor.
- Meet with the Associate Dean for Educational Programs to receive approval.
- Meet with the Office of Student Services to inquire about financial aid.
- Review credit transfer process with the Office of the Registrar.
- Visit the funding page on the OGA website.
Note: Study abroad is typically more feasible for students enrolled during the term when they wish to go abroad.
