Prospective Students

The students of the U-M SSW comprise one of the strongest assets of our school. Our students come from all over the United States and the world to form a diverse, supportive, and open learning community. We recognize that a quality education, alone, is not enough, and we are committed to involving the most diverse range of students and faculty possible in our mission to effect social change. By bringing substantial academic preparation, a wealth of work experience, and strong commitment to the mission of social work, our students come prepared to challenge each other and the faculty to achieve excellence.

Students complement their scholastic experience with participation in several organizations, such as Alliance of Progressive Social Workers, Allies for Disability Awareness, Asian & Asian American Coalition, Association of Black Social Work Students, Christians in Social Work Association, Detroit Initiative Student Group, Doctoral Student Organization, International Social Work Student Association, Latin@ Social Work Coalition, Macro Focus, Non-Traditional Student Network, Organization of Jewish Social Workers, Queer Social Work Alliance, School of Social Work Student Union, Sigma Phi Omega, Social Work Allies for Immigrant Rights, Social Work and Sport Association, Social Workers for Veterans Health and Mental Health, University Students Against Rape, and We Support Detroit Schools.
