The Faculty Handbook has been developed to advise faculty in the School of Social Work with University and School policies and practices that have a direct bearing on how they carry out their respective responsibilities and conduct relationships with other members of the community. The Handbook is modified periodically to reflect alterations in the organizational structure and changes in policies and practices that are relevant to the effective functioning of the School.

The Faculty Handbook is a compilation of rules, procedures, and descriptive materials which have been developed over the years to guide the management, operation, and development of the School of Social Work. It is important to note that this manual is not meant to be a comprehensive collection of all rules and procedures which affect faculty or University life. Rather, these materials relate primarily to the operation of the School of Social Work. Whenever provisions in this Handbook are in conflict or contradiction to University policy, as expressed in the Regental Bylaws, The University Faculty Handbook, The Standard Practice Guide or other official University documents, these latter sources will have superseding authority. There are several other sources of important information, noted below, of which the faculty should be aware. These materials can be accessed on the web through the University Gateway.
