  3. Registration and Course Planning Q&A for Fall 2015 Incoming MSW Students

    July 7, 2015 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

    Do you have any questions before you register? This session is designed for Fall 2015 incoming MSW students and will be devoted to answering registration and course planning questions sent in by attendees.

  4. Summer New Student Program - July 8, 2015

    July 8, 2015 - 8:30am to 5:00pm

    Incoming MSW students are required to attend an on-campus Summer New Student Program session prior to Fall Orientation.

    An email will be sent out in May to all incoming students to let them know when they are eligible to register for a session. The email will also provide available summer session dates. Sessions will be held in conjunction with registration dates; however, if you are unable to attend the summer session on the same date as your registration, note that we will have summer session dates the week prior to and during the week of Fall Orientation that will not have registration on the agenda.

  5. Current Treatment for Trauma Survivors

    July 8, 2015 - 9:00am to 5:00pm

    This mini-course will provide an overview to trauma treatment for the individual. Assessment will include evaluation of individual strengths, how the individual has coped through different developmental stages, the individual’s present coping skills, ways of creating relationships with others and gaining support from others. Self-regulation and self-soothing techniques are evaluated including presentation of post-traumatic stress disorder in individuals, individual methods of emotion regulation and settling down emotions, ability to stay present in activities, meaning of spirituality or religion, connection to physical body, and impact of shame on the individual.

  6. Theory and Practice of Infant Mental Health

    July 9, 2015 - 9:00am to 5:00pm

    This course will examine the principles of early intervention with families of infants and young children. Using attachment theory as a foundation, we will examine best practices in supporting early developing relationships between infants and young children and their caregivers. Special attention will be given to understanding the processes through which practitioners can promote infant well-being and expand parenting capacity to nurture and protect their children.

    Interested in Consulting, Women in Leadership, or Working with Addiction?

    For our final Leadership Talk, the Leadership in Community Benefit Organizations Program has invited Julie Cushman, Clinical Director at Home of New Vision speak about her journey to leadership and tips for emerging leaders in our sector. Julie Cushman is currently a clinical director at Home of New Vision. She also has a private practice doing consulting and program evaluation for community services and agencies. Home of New Vision helps people struggling with substance use disorders find a better way of life.
