  5. 2015 Peace Corps Send-Off Celebration

    March 26, 2015 - 6:00pm

Returning Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) and Peace Corps candidates are able to attend this annual event.  Each year RPCVs and Peace Corps candidates bring dishes from their host countries for the potluck preceding the event. (This is optional, so participants don't have to bring a dish. Typically, we have a wide range of food from all over the world- so participants shouldn't hesitate to be creative and make their favorite PC dish). RPCVs also send pictures to be projected in a slide show. This event is a great way to fulfill Peace Corps' Third Goal.

Potluck Reception starts at 6 PM.  Program starts at 7 PM.  RSVP by Friday, March 20th.

If wanting to share pictures from Peace Corps, please send to peace.corps@umich.edu. Family members and friends are invited to attend.

  7. Save My Seoul Film Screening

    March 26, 2015 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

How far would you go to uncover a country's hidden secret? Save My Seoul follows two Korean-American brothers as they discover rampant prostitution and sex trafficking in Seoul, South Korea. With the use of hidden cameras and access to pimps, johns, and sex-workers, Eddie and Jason explore and unravel the complexity of the sex trade in Seoul. They learn that this problem is rooted in issues far deeper than lost girls and lustful men. Instead, it's a consequence of the broken Korean culture that turns a blind eye to and condones one of the biggest human injustices of our generation.

Please join us for an exclusive screening of the draft film (that will not be released elsewhere) in addition to a commentary from Jason Lee (Director and Co-founder of Jubilee Project), Q&A, and a meet & greet afterwards during which audience members are welcome to find out more ways to get involved. http://www.savemyseoul.com/

    Light refreshments will be provided.

This event is sponsored by the Asian & Asian-American Coalition, The School of Social Work Office of Student Services, and the Nam Center for Korean Studies
