| Job Description: Local consulting firm is seeking a part-time paid intern to assist in a large-scale evaluation involving a wide range of nonprofit organizations in Detroit. This interesting and timely evaluation project is focused on measuring the impact of a set of grants in health, education, workforce development, racial equity and civic engagement in Detroit. Aspects of the project include: designing an evaluation and data collection instruments, improving city-wide school and health data collection systems, facilitating learning across organizations, and providing technical assistance to Detroit organizations in evaluating their work. This internship will provide a unique perspective on how evaluation can be used to support social change. Internship activities will include: " Participation in the strategic thinking of how to collectively evaluate impact across a city " Assisting in the development of data collection instruments " Gathering and analysis of data through interviews, focus groups, surveys and other methods " Organizing grant documents " Independent research in: city-wide data collection systems, use of standardized measures, collective impact models, etc. The selected candidate will work primarily with a lead evaluator based in Ann Arbor, as well as periodically connecting to the larger evaluation team in Detroit. | Job Description: Position Summary: Work with CAP/CPAD Director to implement, support and monitor the core community organizing and administrative aspects of the community + public arts: DETROIT (CPAD) program, a city-wide initiative to bring high quality community driven public art as a community development tool to targeted Detroit neighborhoods. This Position includes primary responsibility for day-to-day operations, community organizing, and communications in support of this program. | Job Description: Advance Illinois Outreach Director is responsible for identifying, reaching out to, and building a strong and diverse statewide coalition of grassroots supporters who will actively advocate for Advance Illinois mission and policy changes to close the achievement gap and graduate all students ready for college and careers. Advance Illinois strongly believes that broad, statewide awareness and commitment is essential to improve Illinois education system, and the Outreach Director is the lead staff member in mobilizing key stakeholders toward this effort, and establishing Advance Illinois as a central source of information, resources and solutions to address crucial needs for the states future. The grassroots coalitions include parents, grandparents, caregivers, students, activists, political and civic leaders; people of color; faith-based communities; and/or citizens in Illinois small- and mid-size cities and rural areas. The Director of Outreach, will report to and work in close partnership with the Executive Director, and will also support the outreach needs of the Policy Director, Government Relations Director and the Communications Director to: " Define outreach and organizing strategies to continue to build a network of local opinion leaders, education leaders and community activists who will partner in support of Advance Illinois goals by: Completing and updating as needed a power analysis of the Illinois education and political landscape; Identifying and organizing grassroots audiences, individuals, and groups (such as parents, teachers and communities of color) whose strategic involvement in Advance Illinois goals can make the difference in advancing better policies. Building upon new and existing relationships with key political, citizen, business and civic partners in communities across the state; and Remaining opportunistic about creating and activating partnerships. " Mobilize and collaborate with network partners to create change by: Designing the outreach processes to involve citizen activists, local civic leaders, educators, and the general public in the development of the organizations detailed, policy framework; Mobilizing and turning out supporters to a range of activities, such as town halls, community forums, roundtable discussions, and lobbying activities. | Job Description: PURPOSE OF POSITION: To design and implement a digital engagement campaign to inform the public about the Common Core State Standards and their likely impact in Illinois. ADVANCE ILLINOIS (www.advanceillinois.org) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded to be an independent voice for education reform. The mission of Advance Illinois is to advocate for a public education system that prepares all students to be ready for work, college, and democratic citizenship. We provide objective research and data about the state of education in Illinois, solicit education stakeholder input and develop and forward a comprehensive education policy agenda. One of the most important ways to ensure that we are preparing our kids to graduate from high school ready for college or career is to set clear, high standards for what they must learn. That is why Advance Illinois is planning a communications campaign to support the introduction of the Common Core standards to our classrooms. The Common Core standards (www.corestandards.org) were developed by chief education officials from states around the country to do just that. Voluntarily adopted by 45 states, these standards will create a consistent learning framework for schools in math and language arts (standards are being developed in other subjects). Rigorous enough to meet the requirements of a 21st century education, they will also make it possible to compare how students are performing across states as children will have uniform standards to meet. Yet, it will not be an easy transition. While critical to long-term success, there will be a ramp up period as students, parents and educators adjust to the new higher standards. The goals of the communications campaign are to: " Educate policymakers, educators, stakeholders, media and communities about the Common Core in an effort to; " Solicit their concerns and ideas about the standards; " Create buy-in and encourage robust implementation. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: " Collaborate with the Communications Director to develop a digital engagement strategy for the Common Core campaign and ongoing Advance Illinois communications " Develop and support technical aspects of the campaign " Draft or locate content for the selected communications vehicles " Manage online communications calendar and make strategic decisions about the type and frequency of communications " Identify opportunities to expand the scope of social media campaigns and engagement " Monitor online metrics to determine audience demographic trends, preferred content and to identify opportunities for further engagement " Review campaign reports and provide analysis on results " Participate in communications planning meetings " Maintain content (text, images, video, calendar of events, etc.) " Update all Advance Illinois content as requested by internal departments.
