U-M Student ID Card (Mcard)
The Mcard is the University of Michigan's single-card program that combines many features including photo identification, library borrowing privileges, building access, meal plans and Blue Bucks, and ATM/debit card access all on one card. All of the University community is required to have a valid Mcard. Students will obtain their first Mcard for free. Mcard production will occur at an ID issuing station (see below). Students must be matriculated and term activated to obtain their Mcard.
Important: Students must bring a government photo ID (i.e., driver's license, state ID, passport) with them when obtaining an Mcard. Students wearing sunglasses, hats, caps, bandanas, etc., will be required to remove them before their photo is taken.
Students who have a previous non-student Mcard will be required to turn it in to obtain the student Mcard. Students who still have a valid unexpired student Mcard can continue to use that card until it expires. Student Mcards are valid for five years. Undergraduate and graduate Mcards both simply indicate "Student."
Students can obtain an Mcard while on-campus either before or during the fall orientation session.
