Commencement Ceremonies

The School of Social Work holds three commencement exercises for MSW students per academic year. These commencement exercises are held at the end of the fall, winter, and spring/summer terms in accordance with University policy.

By holding the School of Social Work exercises (fall and winter only) during the same weekend as the University-wide exercises, students and their families are given the opportunity to participate in both exercises and related activities on campus.

A graduation planning task group is formed at the beginning of the fall, winter, and spring/summer terms as a subgroup of the School's student services/graduation committee. The graduation planning task groups comprise student volunteers, staff members from the Office of Student Services, and one faculty member that serves at the faculty chair of the graduation committee. Details are provided to degree candidates several months before graduation.
